High Fen Riding Club Affiliated to British Riding Clubs

About Us:

55 years of High Fen RC - 1963 - 2018

Thanks to our sponsors for their generous support  - please look here for their web site links.

The High Fen Riding club is based in the North Essex and South Suffolk area of the South-East of England. We aim to encourage riding both as a sport and for recreation, promoting fellowship amongst our members and working to improve the standard of our horsemanship. We organise instructional meetings, training clinics, lectures, socials and competitive events at all levels to include those just starting out right up to the very experienced, and we are affiliated to the British Horse Society through British Riding Clubs.

The club has thrived since it was founded in 1963 by Dietmar Ackermann at his home "High Fen" on the Essex/Suffolk border, and its 100+ members, ranging from 18 (minimum age) up to ...., enjoy their love of horse riding for fun and competition at local and even national level.

The club won the British Riding Clubs' Area 14 Chairman's trophy again in 2014, having held it for most of the last 10 years through its enthusiastic and talented members, hard working and dedicated committee, and the support of its trainers and volunteers willing to give their time to the club. Over the years, High Fen teams have competed successfully in all disciplines at the British Riding Clubs National Championships and were the Riding Clubs’ Team Dressage Champions in 2012.

In case we're starting to sound a bit high-powered, we want to emphasise that we are a friendly and inclusive club welcoming everyone who  wants to improve their horse riding and management skills, try out new disciplines... and, most of all, have fun enjoying horses!

Intermediate Winter Dressage

Bury Farm, Slapton, Bucks.

26th-28th. April 2019.

High Fen was represented at this competition by Kelly Greaves and Fentons Flint.

Kelly qualified for this championship at the area competition in February at Easton and Otley by winning her arena at Medium level.

At the championships Kelly and Flint were placed 8th in a class of 26,many congratulation to them, they continue to progress up the levels.

This is the 3rd time the partnership has qualified for this championship; they previously competed at Prelim then Elementary and now the Medium.

Watch this space next year !

Novice Winter Dressage

High Fen were represented at these championships by Lucy Haycock riding her lovely grey horse Silver Viking.

Debra Harrington also qualified but unfortunately was unable to attend as her horse Parsnip Truffle was suffering with a sore back.

Commiserations to her and lets hope Parsnip soon feels better.

So Lucy made the long journey to Arena u.k at Grantham, Lincs on her own, but I think she was very pleased with her result, coming 4th from 18 starters and only 7 marks from the winner.

The individual results can be seen here.

Grateful thanks from all at High Fen and best wishes for the rest of the year.
